Totals Bet [Meaning] - MasterTerms.com

Totals Bet

A Totals Bet is a wager on whether the combined score of both teams in a game will be over or under a specified number.

In a Totals Bet, the sportsbook sets a total number of points, runs, or goals that both teams are expected to score combined. The bettor then wagers whether the actual total will be higher (over) or lower (under) than the sportsbook’s set number. This type of bet is common in sports like football, basketball, and soccer.

Totals Bet Example

For example, if a football game has a totals line set at 45.5 points, you can bet on whether the final combined score of both teams will be over or under that number. If the final score is 28-20, the total is 48, and the “over” would win.
