Stud Hi-Lo [Meaning] - MasterTerms.com

Stud Hi-Lo

Stud Hi-Lo is a poker variant where the pot is split between the highest and lowest hands.

In Stud Hi-Lo, players are dealt seven cards throughout the game, and the objective is to create two separate hands: a high hand and a low hand. The high hand follows the standard poker hand rankings, while the low hand must meet specific requirements, usually containing five unpaired cards ranked eight or lower. Players aim to win both halves of the pot by having the best high hand and qualifying low hand, or by having one of the best hands for either category.

Stud Hi-Lo Example

For example, a player might hold a high hand with a full house (three kings and two 3s) and a low hand with A-2-3-4-7, potentially winning both the high and low portions of the pot.
