Stand [Meaning] - MasterTerms.com

Stand

Stand: A term in Baccarat where a player decides not to draw any additional cards.

In Baccarat, the term “stand” refers to the action taken by a player when they are satisfied with their current hand total and do not wish to receive any more cards. This decision is typically made based on the total value of the player’s hand, which can range from 0 to 21, but in Baccarat, the highest possible score is 9. Players often stand when their total is high enough to compete against the dealer’s hand, minimizing the risk of going over the limit or reducing their chances of improving their hand.

Stand Example

For example, if a player has a hand totaling 7 and they believe this total has a good chance of winning against the dealer’s hand, they may choose to stand instead of drawing another card, thus finalizing their hand for that round.
