Slowroll [Meaning] - MasterTerms.com

Slowroll

A slowroll is a poker tactic where a player with a strong hand delays revealing their winning cards to induce a reaction from opponents.

This strategy often occurs when a player is confident they have the best hand but chooses to wait before showing their cards, usually to create suspense or to frustrate their opponents. While some players view it as a clever move, it can also be seen as disrespectful or unsportsmanlike, especially if done intentionally to upset others at the table.

Slowroll Example

For example, in a Texas Hold’em game, Player A holds a pair of aces and is up against Player B, who has a weaker hand. After a tense betting round, Player A takes their time to reveal their cards after Player B has already shown a weaker hand, enjoying the moment of suspense before finally exposing their winning hand.
