Shooter [Meaning] - MasterTerms.com

Shooter

A shooter is the player who rolls the dice in a game of Craps.

In Craps, the shooter is the player currently responsible for rolling the dice. The role of the shooter rotates among the players, and they must place a minimum bet on either the Pass Line or Don’t Pass Line before rolling. The shooter’s first roll in a new round is called the “come-out roll.” If the shooter wins or loses based on the outcome of this roll, a new round begins. If the point is established, the shooter continues rolling until they either hit the point or roll a seven, which ends their turn.

Shooter Example

For example, during a game of Craps, if a player rolls the dice and establishes a point, they keep rolling until they either hit that point again or roll a seven, at which point their turn as the shooter ends, and the next player takes over as the shooter.
