Seven-Card Stud [Meaning] - MasterTerms.com

Seven-Card Stud [7SC]

Seven-Card Stud is a poker variant where each player is dealt seven cards, with the goal of making the best five-card hand.

Unlike Texas Hold’em, there are no community cards in Seven-Card Stud. Each player receives a combination of face-up and face-down cards over five betting rounds. The game starts with two cards face down and one face up for each player, followed by further cards dealt alternately face-up and face-down. Players use any five of their seven cards to create the strongest possible poker hand, with betting occurring after each round of cards dealt.

Seven-Card Stud Example

For example, in a game of Seven-Card Stud, one player may receive two cards face down and one face up showing a King. As the game progresses, they receive four more cards, some face up and some face down, with the goal of making the best possible hand from their seven cards.
