Pass Bet [Meaning] - MasterTerms.com

Pass Bet

A Pass Bet is a wager made in the game of Craps that predicts the shooter will roll a winning number on their first roll or establish a point and then roll that point again before rolling a seven.

In Craps, the Pass Bet is one of the most fundamental bets. It can be placed before the shooter rolls the dice. If the shooter rolls a 7 or 11 on the first roll (known as the “come out” roll), the Pass Bet wins. If the shooter rolls a 2, 3, or 12, the Pass Bet loses. If any other number (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10) is rolled, that number becomes the “point.” The shooter must then roll the point again before rolling a 7 for the Pass Bet to win. This bet typically has a lower house edge compared to other bets in the game.

Pass Bet Example

For example, if a player places a Pass Bet of $10 and the shooter rolls an 8 on the come out roll, the player will need the shooter to roll another 8 before rolling a 7 for their bet to win. If the shooter rolls a 7 before hitting the 8 again, the Pass Bet loses.
