Hot Deck [Meaning] - MasterTerms.com

Hot Deck

A hot deck in blackjack refers to a deck that is rich in high-value cards, favoring the player.

A hot deck occurs when there are an above-average number of 10s, face cards, and aces left in the deck. This increases the likelihood of the player being dealt a blackjack (a total of 21) or achieving strong hands. Experienced players or card counters look for hot decks as they present an opportunity to increase their bets when the odds are more favorable.

Hot Deck Example

For example, if many low-value cards have already been played, a remaining deck might contain more 10s, face cards, and aces, making it a hot deck. This would encourage the player to raise their bets, expecting better hands.
