Check Poker [Meaning] - MasterTerms.com

Check Poker [Check]

A check in poker is when a player chooses not to bet but remains in the game.

In more detail, a check occurs when it’s a player’s turn to act in a round of betting, and no previous bets have been made. Instead of placing a bet, the player can check, which essentially means passing the action to the next player without betting any money. A check can only be made if no other players have bet in that round. If another player places a bet after you check, you have the option to fold, call, or raise.

Check Poker Example

For example, in a game of Texas Hold’em, if you are the first player to act after the flop and no one has bet yet, you may check, allowing the next player to decide if they want to bet.
