Caribbean Stud [Meaning] - MasterTerms.com

Caribbean Stud

Caribbean Stud is a popular casino poker game where players compete against the house rather than each other.

In Caribbean Stud, each player is dealt five cards, and the objective is to have a better hand than the dealer. The game starts with players placing an ante bet. After receiving their cards, players can either fold, losing their ante, or continue by placing a raise bet equal to double the ante. The dealer then reveals their cards, and to qualify, the dealer must have at least an Ace and a King. If the dealer does not qualify, players win even money on their ante, and their raise bet is returned. If the dealer qualifies, hands are compared, and winning hands are paid according to a specific payout table, while losing hands forfeit both bets.

Caribbean Stud Example

For example, if a player receives a hand of Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and 10 of hearts, they have a Royal Flush. If the dealer shows a hand with an Ace and a King but no other matching cards, the player wins even money on the ante and receives their raise back, as the dealer did not qualify.
