Button Poker [Meaning] - MasterTerms.com

Button Poker [BP]

Button Poker refers to the position of the dealer in a poker game, often seen as the most advantageous seat at the table.

In poker, the “button” rotates clockwise after each hand and indicates who is the nominal dealer for that round. The player on the button acts last in all betting rounds after the initial pre-flop round. Acting last gives the player valuable information on the actions of other players, providing a strategic advantage. In casino games, a professional dealer handles the cards, but the “button” still determines the order of play.

Button Poker Example

For example, in a game of Texas Hold’em, after the flop, turn, and river cards are dealt, the player in the button position gets to see how all the other players react before making their move, allowing them to make more informed decisions.
