Bottom Pair [Meaning] - MasterTerms.com

Bottom Pair

A bottom pair is when a player pairs their lowest-ranked hole card with the lowest card on the board.

In more detail, a bottom pair occurs when one of the player’s two hole cards matches the lowest card in the community cards. It’s not the strongest hand but can be a decent play in certain situations, particularly in games where the board is not highly coordinated or the players have weaker holdings. This hand is generally vulnerable to stronger pairs and other combinations.

Bottom Pair Example

For example, if the community cards are 10♠, 7♣, 3♦, and the player holds A♠, 3♣, the player has a bottom pair with the 3’s.
