Back Line [Meaning] - MasterTerms.com

Back Line

A Back Line is a bet placed in the game of Craps that functions similarly to the Pass Line bet, but it is made after the come-out roll has determined a point. This bet wins if the shooter rolls the point number again before rolling a seven, but it loses if a seven is rolled before the point.

In Craps, the Back Line bet becomes available once a point has been established. Players can place this bet behind the Pass Line to essentially wager that the shooter will successfully hit the point before rolling a seven. This bet is often used strategically by players who feel confident about the shooter making their point and can provide a way to hedge bets in a game where the shooter is likely to roll a specific number.

Back Line Example

For example, if the shooter rolls a 4, establishing it as the point, a player can place a Back Line bet. If the shooter rolls another 4 before rolling a 7, the bet wins. If a 7 is rolled first, the Back Line bet loses.
